Steve King introduced the “Mayor Libby Schaaf Act of 2018,” which would ban officials from “the purposeful broadcast … of information relating to any imminent action by a federal law enforcement officer or agent.” Violations could result in up to five years in prison. At some point, they will start to jail government officials that defy the law. Things are already heating up, and the trend has just started. The anti-immigrant rhetoric and action are gathering momentum at a stunning pace; sadly some good individual will be caught in the crossfire. This trend is powerful as emotions are being used to fuel it and therefore in such an environment one has to remember the phrase “when in Rome do as the Romans or be sent home.”
